1973 Gibson SG Standard Vintage Heritage Cherry with original case. The guitar is in pretty nice condition with a largely unfaded heritage cherry finish - something you don't see very often. It has some light scratches, small bumps and finish wear. There's no cracks or repairs. It has the original Gibson epoxy back or tar backs and they are described as basically a Super Humbucker with a T-top bobbin - or something like that.
The Epoxy backs are unique in their ability to work well with loud amps, the articulate note definition and the smooth yet chunky overdrive you can get. In an SG with a Marshall 800 they really cut through the mix but still were HEAVY. Gibson solved the issue of pickups going microphonic at this point! The pots date to the 51st week of 1972 and the solder joints are completely unmolested. The serial # is 778864 - and it's stamped "Made In USA".
The neck is straight and the frets are the original Gibson fretless wonder types. This is a nice vintage piece that is really fun to play with a super slim neck - she weighs 7.3 lbs. Please look at all pictures- they accurately represent the condition of this instrument. There are no funky odors or smells- just vintage mojo.Comes with the original looking Gibson hardshell case as seen in the pictures.
